Paulist Press
Classics of Western Spirituality

Islam

Two decades ago Paulist Press committed itself to a publishing venture that would make available to the reading public accessible and modern translations of the Classics of Western Spirituality. Primarily focused on the Abrahamic traditions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, although there was also material on the indigenous religions of the Americas, the series now has over one hundred titles in print. All the volumes have lucid introductions which place the author and text in their cultural and religious contexts, suggestions for further reading, and helpful indexes. Translations and commentaries are written by well-known scholars. These texts are not only "user-friendly," but have been and continue to be valuable resources in the secondary classroom. Current volumes available for Islamic spirituality are:

Early Islamic Mysticism: Sufi, Qur'an, Mi'raj, Poetic and Theological Writings
Fakhruddin Iraqi - Divine Flashes
Ibn 'Abbad of Ronda - Letters on the Sufi Path
Ibn Al'Arabi - The Bezels of Wisdom
Ibn 'Ata' Illah/ Kwaja Abdullah Ansari - The Book of Wisdom/Intimate Conversations
Nizam Ad-Din Awliya - Morals for the Heart
Sharafuddin Maneri - The Hundred Letters
Knowledge of God in Classical Sufism
Umar Ibn al-Farid
